Buenos Aires, January 7, 2026 – Total News Agency (TNA) – A serious accident that occurred in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano has once again raised alarms about the maintenance status of buildings in densely populated urban areas, after a glass panel fell from a balcony and struck a man sitting at a café. The incident took place at a confitería located at Ciudad de la Paz 300, where the victim, identified as Pablo, was drinking a soda at a table on the sidewalk. For precaution, they decided to take shelter under the balcony, fearing that more glass fragments could fall. In the following minutes, the café staff sat the victim down, applied a tourniquet, cleaned his wounds, and controlled the bleeding until emergency services arrived. The man suffered multiple cuts to his head, neck, back, and neck, as well as deeper injuries to his left arm. Following the accident, the business decided to move the sidewalk tables to prevent a similar situation from happening again. The apartment from which the glass fell belongs to a person who resides in the province of Córdoba and uses the residence occasionally, so he was not present at the time of the accident. With the intervention of the building manager, they were able to enter the apartment to remove the remaining glass from the balcony, aiming to prevent new falls and reduce the risk to pedestrians and customers. The case has caused concern among local residents and reopened the debate on the responsibility of owners and condominiums in the maintenance of external structures, especially in commercial areas with high foot traffic. According to a neighbor identified as Julio, the man received 20 stitches on his head, which have since been removed, and also has a significant injury to one of his arms. "He has three severed tendons and will need rehabilitation," he detailed after speaking personally with the victim. From the café, one of the employees who participated in the assistance recounted that the noise was so loud that at first, they thought it was a traffic accident. Upon going out to the sidewalk, they found the man unconscious and visibly dazed. According to the information gathered, Pablo is out of danger, although he suffered severe injuries. Initial reconstructions indicate that the incident occurred during a morning with strong gusts of wind. At that moment, a glass structure from a balcony on the fourth floor of the building suddenly detached and hit him on the head, causing significant injuries. Although the incident happened days ago, the case became public knowledge in recent hours after the circulation of a video that captured the exact moment of impact. Meanwhile, it is unknown if the building's condominium had previously taken security measures or conducted inspections on the condition of the balcony from which the panel fell. In the footage, the man is seen sitting at a table when, after taking out a cigarette, he is surprised by the violent fall of the glass, with no chance to react. According to neighbors and witnesses, the victim was immediately assisted by café employees and people in the area. He was later transferred to a health center, where he received urgent medical attention.
